Sindangan, ZDN – The newly installed Regional Manager of NIA Region 9  - Engr. June Nathaniel S. Plaza paid a courtesy call to Hon. Rosendo “Dodoy” Labadlabad, the Municipal Mayor of Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte on July 31, 2023.

Together with Regional Manager Plaza is the Acting Manager of Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDN RSO) – Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales along with the technical staff of the ZDN RSO. Also present during the visit are the district engineers of DPWH – Engr. Aminodin P. Maniri and Engr. Norman C. Carpio; and the staff of Office of the Municipal Mayor.

The visit aims to discuss the irrigation projects in the municipality of Sindangan particularly the Lagag Small Irrigation Project (SIP), Talinga SIP, and Sindangan Communal Irrigation Project (CIS). Also discussed during the meeting is the proposed Sindangan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP).

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) is one of the agencies that strongly support the implementation of Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program of the Government that aims to mitigate hunger, ensure nutrition security, and reduce poverty. NIA takes part in EPAHP program by providing technical capability enhancement programs to the Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) and establishing linkages with Relevant Interested Parties (RIPs).

Today, NIA Region IX, through the Institutional Development Unit, conducted the YEAR 2 EPAHP TABO-AN SA NIA with the theme “From Farm to Table: A Healthy Meal for All” at NIA Regional Office covered court, Regional Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City. This is also in support of the 49th Nutrition Month celebration.

Regional Manager Engr. June Nathaniel S. Plaza along with Acting Engineering and Operations Division Manager Antonio B. Gujeling and Administrative and Finance Division Manager Joel R. Soriano opened the event with the ceremonial breaking of “Palayok” which symbolizes unity and prosperity.

Pagadian City, Zambo. Del Sur – Engr. June Nathaniel S. Plaza formally assumed post as the new Regional Manager (RM) of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Region 9 on July 21, 2023 (Friday), held at NIA-9 Regional Office, Regional Government Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City.

During the Leadership Turnover Ceremony presided by NIA Senior Deputy Administrator (SDA) Robert C. Suguitan, Engr. June Nathaniel S. Plaza received the baton of leadership, the symbol of responsibility that goes with the management and authority, from the outgoing NIA-9 Regional Manager, Salome N. Layasan.

Prior to the reassignment of Engr. Plaza as the new RM of NIA Region 9, he served as the Regional Manager of NIA Region 13 (Caraga) for two (2) years, and have served the same region since 1997. Meanwhile, Engr. Salome N. Layasan served as the Regional Manager of NIA Region 9 since December 2021 before being reassigned and designated as the Mindanao Islands Project Coordinator under the Office of the Senior Deputy Administrator (OSDA).

Two (2) officials of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) get new leadership post in two offices of NIA Region 9 – the Engineering and Operations Division (EOD) located in NIA-9 Regional Office, Balintawak, Pagadian City and the Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi Regional Sub-Office (ZRSO) located in Zamboanga City.

In a significant leadership turnover ceremony presided by Regional Manager Salome N. Layasan, Engr. Antonio G. Gujeling, the former LAMISCA Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Manager, NIA Region 10 assumes the position of Acting Division Manager of EOD replacing Engr. Maritez I. Soria, who is now assigned as the Acting IMO Manager of Bohol-Cebu-Siquijor-IMO, NIA Region 7.

Meanwhile, Engr. Rex L. Armentia, the former Assistant Manager of Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDN RSO) was installed as the new Acting Manager of ZAMBASULTA RSO replacing Engr. Robert Berni L. Rada II, who is returning to his original station at the Operations Section, EOD, Region 9.
