NIA Region 9 conducts its first NIA-NGA Convergence Meeting under the new management headed by Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza, held at the Conference Room of NIA-9 Regional Office, Balintawak, Pagadian City.

Among the participating line agencies for today’s meeting are the Department of Agriculture (DA), DA – PHILRICE, DA – PHILMEC, DA – ATI, DENR, DILG, DPWH, DAR, and TESDA represented by their respective convergence focal persons. Also present during the meeting is the Irrigators Association Federation President Alonto L. Marcaban.

Through this meeting, NIA with the help of the line agencies will be able to provide timely support services and intensify sustainable agricultural revenue as well as to fast track the on-going linkages, services, and intervention program provided by various national government agencies.  

Ultimately, it aims to establish unity among line agencies in promoting progress for the benefit of the local farmers particularly the Irrigators Associations within the region.

Being a the industrial nurse of the agency, Ms. Carousel Mae Soria-Lamatan  keeps her advocacy in ensuring good health to all employees of  NIA Region 9, including its farmer beneficiaries. Hence, the “Trabaho ko ang kalusugan ng kapwa ko”.

Last July 31, 2023,  Nurse Lamatan spearheaded the Culmination Program of the 49th Nutrition Month Celebration with a theme “A Healthy Diet, Gawing Affordable for ALL”, held at the Function Hall of NIA-9, Balintawak, Pagadian City.

Series of lectures pertaining to the significance of practicing and maintaining healthy lifestyle were imparted to the audience, which is timely due to the disparity in the integration of health awareness in the daily activities in most of the workforce not only in the field, but also within the office.

As a health provider, she makes certain that disease prevention and health development is constantly promoted to all personnel at all times.

NIA-9 Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza meets Pagadian City Mayor Samuel S. Co on Wednesday, August 3, 2023 for a courtesy visit. Also present during the courtesy call are Vice Mayor Baldomero Fernandez, City Councilors Arnold R. Gavenia and Doc - Ariel Lim, and City Engineer Nelly Sisona.

Among the important matters discussed are the development projects in the city to include the improvement of agricutural sector and the enhancement of the economic status of the local farmers.

July 26, 2023, Zamboanga City | The National Irrigation Administration ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office IX headed by the Acting Manager Engr. Rex L. Armentia facilitated by the Institutional Development Unit lead by IDS Head Ms. Leni S. Enriquez, Jameson B. Atilano and the project-in-charge Engr. Climbros C. Tabilon, Jr. inaugurates and turn-over the irrigation projects for Sinuropan CIS Extension with an allocation of PhP5 Million under EEEIS CY2019 for the constructed 3 units reinforced concrete tanks and the 1.149 kms installed pipelines irrigating approximately 15 hectares for the 33 farmer beneficiaries and Lower Tigbao Licomo SIP Phase III with an allocation of PhP13.5 Million under SIP CY2022 for the constructed protection dike, canalization and canal structures irrigating 20 hectares benefiting 30 farmers.

The projects were accepted by Bermuda Sinuropan Irrigators’ Association represented by IA President Junasky A. Otap and Tigbao Communal Integrated Irrigators’ Association, Inc. represented by IA President Geronimo A. Francisco.

NIA-9 Regional Manager  June Nathaniel Plaza together Engineering and Operations Division (EOD) Acting Manager Antonio Briones Gujeling  join the first Bi-annual Meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC) of Zamboanga del Sur, being held at Subanen Hall, Provincial Government Complex, Dao, Zamboanga del Sur.

The PDC Meeting is presided by Hon. Victor G. Yu, Provincial Governor of Zamboanga del Sur, which aims to present and discuss the development status and plan of the province.

Among the participants during the meeting are local chief executives, local government units, and various line agencies within Zamboanga del Sur province.
