Zamboanga City (August 31, 2023) - The National Irrigation Administration ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office holds a whole day caravan on the Free Irrigation Service Act (FISA  / R.A. 10969) and Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA) to District I farmers at Ayala Gymnasium, Barangay Ayala, Zamboanga City.

This activity aims to disseminate information on the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) of R.A. 10969 facilitated by the Institutional Development Unit headed by the Ms. Leni S. Enriquez, as well as the briefing of the RSBSA facilitated by Department of  Agriculture RSBSA Focal Person Ethel Anne Aying together with the Office of City Agriculturist represented by the Agricultural Field Office in Ayala District - Supervising Agriculturist Merida P. Garcia.

Gulayon, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte - The Department of Agriculture Regional F2C2 Focal Person Hannibal P. Bayo-ong conducted Writeshop on the Formulation of Cluster Development Plan (CDP) to four (4) organized Clusters in the province of Zamboanga del Norte held on August 30-31, 2023 at NIA Conference Hall, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

During the Development Plan Writeshop, the participants formulated their masterplan for the growth and development of the cluster through its business enterprises. Further, they identified their five (5) year development plan that addresses the needs of the clusters relative to marketing, production, operation, organization, financing and sustainability.

This writeshop is in line with the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) program of the Department of Agriculture.

Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur – A caravan on Free irrigation Service Act (FISA) and Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA) was held at Barangay Diplo, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur on August 30, 2023.

The activity was spearheaded by the Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (ZDS IMO) - Institutional Development Unit led by Supervising Institutional Development Officer Ann N. Maligro. It was participated by six (6) Irrigators Associations (IAs) composed of a total 383 farmer beneficiaries.
The FISA Caravan spearheaded by NIA aims to assists the farmers in the processing of their Certificate of Exemption on the Payment of Irrigation Service Fee. Meanwhile, the RSBSA Caravan aims to ensure the registration of farmers in the DA’s centralized database for them to benefit from the assistance and programs of the government.

Also, a Tabo-an was organized  wherein the IAs were able to promote their farm produce to a wider market. Among the products displayed are fresh fruits, vegetables, and other locally made items.

NIA-9 ZAMBASULTA participates the invitational meeting hosted by the Committee on Agriculture and Agrarian Relations Chairperson, Honorable Joselito “Lit-lit” Macrohon held at NIA-9 ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office (ZRSO), Governor Ramos, Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the letter from the Ciudad de Zamboanga Federacion de Irrigacion, Inc. seeking Sangguniang Panglungsod Resolution for authority to use the land where the water source is situated from various barangays in Zamboanga City; the water supply for agricultural production during El Niño; and other matters concerning water delivery in the city.

Among the participants of the said meeting are representatives from the NIA-9 ZAMBASULTA RSO; Department of Agriculture; Office of the City Agriculturist; Department of Environment & Natural Resources; Office of the City Environment & Natural Resources; Community Environment & Natural Resources Office; Office of the City Planning; City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office; Zamboanga City Water District and Ciudad de Zamboanga Federacion de Irrigacion, Inc.

Molave, Zamboanga del Sur (August 30, 2023) - A System Management Committee (SMC) Meeting is currently being held at Salug River Irrigation System (SARIS) Office, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur.

The committee is composed of concerned line agencies, local government units, barangay captains, Irrigators Associations (IA) Presidents of the 22 IAs within the municipality of Tambulig, Molave, Mahayag, Ramon Magsaysay, part of Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur and Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.

This meeting aims to discuss issues arising within the system, as well as to have an effective partnership in the operation and management of the Salug River Irrigation System. Part of the agenda being discussed are the proposed new cropping pattern to increase production; adoption of IA policies as local ordinance; status of IA Clustering and Cooperative; and status of Irrigation Service Fee (ISF).
