
SIAY, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — The National Irrigation Administration - Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (NIA-ZSIMO) held a Turnout Service Area Group (TSAG) meeting with the Poblacion- Coloran-Labasan-Kimos Irrigators' Association (PCLK IA) at Barangay Kimos on July 22, 2025, to enhance irrigation services and promote sustainable agricultural practices. The meeting was attended by officials from NIA-ZSIMO's operations and institutional development unit, as well as officers and members of the IA's Board of Trustees.
Key topics discussed included the upcoming test run of irrigation systems, IA reorganization in preparation for full operational capacity, and the prioritization of canals needing desilting. The group also deliberated on potential sites for a proposed Rice Processing System (RPS), with at least 4,000 square meters required to meet project standards. NIA-ZSIMO emphasized the need to expand irrigable areas to boost productivity and encouraged the IA to identify lands suitable for future development to help achieve regional rice sufficiency.
NIA-ZSIMO reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable irrigation infrastructure. The agency highlighted the significance of strong collaboration with Irrigators' Associations as vital to effective water management and improved agricultural output. Through continuous dialogue and partnership, NIA envisions a resilient farming community equipped to contribute to long-term food security and rural development in Zamboanga Sibugay.
