NIA-R9 Welcomes 2022 with Synergy, Sustainability, and Security

The National Irrigation Administration welcomes Year 2022 with the theme “Synergy. Sustainability. Security.” in an Ushering activity held simultaneously in all NIA Offices nationwide on January 05, 2022.

For this year, the NIA Water Accent Wall was chosen to symbolize the theme. The waterfall adheres to the Year of the Water Tiger which symbolizes strength, power, inspiration, and respect. Similarly, it signifies open-mindedness and inclination towards new ideas and experiences.

All NIA Region 9 Offices in Zamboanga Peninsula joined the Agency in this yearly activity with joy and hope for the coming year. Each employee wrote their names on the stones which form part of the Waterfall structure. These stones reflect the synergy among the Agency’s human resources.

In lieu of the Regional Manager Salome N. Layasan, who attended the New Year’s Call at NIA Central Office, Engr. Maritez I. Soria, Division Manager for Engineering and Operations, graced the activity with her New Year’s Message. During her speech, she encouraged all NIA-9 Regional Office employees to work hand-in-hand to achieve more accomplishments in order for Region 9 to contribute to the attainment of food security and agricultural growth of the country.

 

Inauguration and Turn-Over of Binuangan Small Irrigation Project at Barangay Binuangan, Isabela City, Basilan

December 28, 2021 | The successful project inauguration and turn-over of Binuangan SIP under CY2020 allocation was spearheaded by ZRSO's Acting Manager Robert Berni L. Rada II and assisted by Institutional Developement Officer Mr. Jameson B. Atilano.

Gracing the ceremony are NIA R-IX's Acting Regional Manager Engr. Salome N. Layasan, Management Specialist Gen. Mayoralgo M. Dela Cruz (Ret) AFP, Acting Division Manager for Engineering and Operations Engr. Maritez I. Soria, Head for Engineering Section Engr. Joel G. Janiola, Basilan Governor representative Ms. Minsara A. Muarip, Binuangan Barangay Chairman Honorable Rigoberto E. Demco and Jermahar Construction & Supply representative Engr. Mahiruddin K. Emlan.

The 7.0 Million worth of constructed intake, canalization and canal structure was duly accepted by Binuangan Agro Irrigators Association represented by their President Ms. Aurora T. Dela Serna.

Witnessed the ceremony were Acting Admin. Officer Nurlinda A. Amil, Planning Head Engr. Yves Ron C. Ipac, PIC Engr. Climbros C. Tabilon, Jr., Binuangan Agro Irrigators Association officers & members and Barangay Binuangan Council representatives.

 

NIA Region IX welcomes its new and first female Regional Manager - Engr. Salome Naragas Layasan

NIA-9 welcomes its new Regional Manager, Engr. Salome N. Layasan, who arrived at the Region on December 9, 2021 together with select officials & staff from Davao Oriental Irrigation Management Office, NIA Region 11.

Engr. Layasan served as the Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Manager of Davao Oriental IMO prior to her designation as the Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region 9, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, effective December 06, 2021.

During her arrival, the Regional Office rendered a Meet and Greet activity to welcome her and the guests. She was toured around the Regional Office, as well as the neighboring field office, the Zamboanga del Sur IMO.

Acting RM Layasan was received by Acting Division Manager for Engineering and Operations, Maritez Cabatit Ignacio Soria, together with other key personnel of NIA Region 9, and the management of ZDS IMO headed by Engr. Benedicto Isagani Pulis Jr.

NIA-9 is delighted to finally meet its first female Regional Manager, and is looking forward to her leadership that will bring NIA-9 to a greater heights.

NIA conducts Scholarship Program Agreement Signing under EPAHP and turnover farm equipment to Irrigator's Associations

Two activities were successfully conducted in the same day. The agreement signing of scholarship program and the turned-over of 5 units’ collapsible dryer to the IAs.

The first and foremost scholarship program of Irrigators’ Association (IA) in the province of Zamboanga del Norte under Enhanced Program Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) were grant to our aspiring students that belongs to the marginalize family in our society. The six (6) selected youngsters were also a beneficiaries of the particulars IAs which offered this scholarship. The IAs that supported this program were- Mitungan IA, Guisali IA, Payan IA, Butigan-Lantoy IA, Nipaan IA and Maria Uray IA.

The activity was conducted through the effort of NIA-Zamboanga del Norte Institutional Staff headed by IDU Head-Dionisio Solutorio and was actively participated by Acting Manager Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales.

It follows the granting of 5 units collapsible dryer to Sanedan IA, Samahang Magsasaka ng Malugas IA, Lagsidesi IA, Dansalan Makugihon IA and Lintanayan IA from the Department of Agriculture- Zamboanga del Norte Satellite Office represented by Mr. George Vallente- Agricultural Provincial Coordinator.

The continuous support of EPAHP and linking to lined agencies were now the highlights of NIA-Institutional activities.
