MOA Signing and Pre-Construction Meeting held for Tagbak Tillers IA Solar Irrigation Project

INDANAN, SULU —A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing and pre-construction meeting was successfully held on June 30, 2025, at the Tagbak Barangay Hall in Indanan, Sulu, for the Solar Irrigation Project of the Tagbak Tillers Irrigators Association (IA).

The meeting aimed to familiarize farmers with NIA's policies on construction procedures and the roles of Irrigators Associations under the Agency's development programs. It also served as a venue to finalize important documents, such as deeds of donation and permits for entry and rights-of-way. The project's commitment to community inclusion was emphasized through the plan to prioritize hiring unskilled labor from within the barangay.

The activity was led by the NIA ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office represented by Institutional Development Officer Fernaida K. Dahin, and was attended by IA officers and members, Barangay Chairman Abdelnaser M. Kadil, and local landowners.

Costa Este IA Cooperative holds Membership Orientation

ZAMBOANGA CITY-To strengthen community involvement and promote cooperative values, a membership orientation was conducted on June 27, 2025, for the Costa Este IA Agriculture Cooperative in Barangay Tictapul, Zamboanga City. The activity gathered members and interested individuals from Tictapul and Licomo Communal Irrigation Systems (CIS) to learn more about the cooperative's purpose, functions, and member benefits.

The orientation aimed to build awareness and understanding of the cooperative's role in improving the lives of its members. Topics discussed included the importance of unity, the responsibilities and rights of members, and how cooperative membership can open doors to economic and social opportunities. It also emphasized the value of working together for collective progress and community development.

The session was facilitated by Coop Focal Person Femie Jhay Maatubang, assisted by Institutional Development Officers Ms. Darlyn Sanchez and Jedda Gaile Candia, who guided participants through the discussions and addressed their questions.

NIA and MAFAR join forces to help Tagbak Farmers

INDANAN, SULU - On June 27, 2025, farmers from Tagbak Tillers Irrigators Association in Brgy. Tagbak, Indanan received support through a partnership between National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR). The activity was attended by MAFAR Municipal Officer Mr. Farhan M. Hasan and Barangay Chairman Mr. Abdelnaser M. Kadil.

The assistance included four sacks of hybrid corn seeds and eight liters of foliar fertilizer, good for three hectares of farmland. This support aims to boost harvest and improve the livelihood of local farmers.

This partnership shows how teamwork between agencies can make a big difference in helping farmers grow more crops and ensure food for their communities.

NIA Zambo. Sur begins Monthly Clean-Up to promote teamwork and sustainability

LABANGAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — To promote a clean and sustainable workplace, the NIA
Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (ZDSIMO) launched its first Monthly Clean-Up Drive on June 28, 2025, at the NIA Labangan and SARIS offices.

Led by Division Manager Girlie M. Detalla, the activity gathered full participation from staff, fostering teamwork while improving the overall office environment. Employees came together to clean and organize their work areas, creating a healthier and more efficient space for everyone.
This marks the beginning of a regular monthly initiative that reflects ZDSIMO's commitment not just to environmental responsibility but also to cultivating a sense of shared accountability and pride in the workplace.
