New Irrigation Turned-over to Zamboangueños

LATUAN, ZAMBOANGA CITY.  NIA Region IX, ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office (ZRSO) headed by Acting Manager Robert Berni L. Rada officially turned over Latuan Small Irrigation Project to Latuan Irrigators Association (IA) during a Turn-over Ceremony held at Covered Court, Brgy. Latuan, Zamboanga City on September 20, 2022.

The Latuan SIP has a total project cost amounting to 34M which covers the construction of Intake Structure, Reinforced Concrete Tank and Pipeline. Once the system becomes fully operational, it will irrigate a total of  75 hectares of agricultural land that will benefit 40 farmers and their families.

The Turn-over Ceremony was facilitated by the Institutional Development Unit of ZRSO led by Ms. Leni Enriquez.  Among the special guests during the ceremony were Hon. John M. Dalipe, Mayor of Zamboanga City, Hon. Joselito Macrohon, Zamboanga City Councilor, Hon. Jimmy Bautista, Chairperson of Brgy. Latuan, IA Officers headed by IA President Roel Basilio, Board of Trustees, IA members, and Engr. Eleuterio Insong of ASAP Construction.

Assessment on Engineering Monitored Line Projects

NIA Region IX led by Engineering and Operations Manager Maritez I. Soria headed the presentation of detailed status of Line Projects.

Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (IMO) headed by Engr. Benedicto Isagani O. Pulis Jr. presented the status of Lison Valley Irrigation Project. Meanwhile, Zamboanga Sibugauly IMO presented the status of Titay Small Irrigation Project (SRIP).

The Assessment of Region IX Line Projects was faciliated by the Contruction Management Division (CMD) of NIA Central Office held virtually on Septmeber 22, 2022.

NIA IX Regional Manager Engr. Salome N. Layasan

NIA Administrator Benny D. Antiporda presides the Oath Taking Ceremony of Engr. Salome N. Layasan as the Regional Manager of NIA Region IX at the Conference Room of the Administrator, 2nd Floor, Building B, NIA Central Office.

Prior to her appointment as the full-fledged Regional Manager, Engr. Layasan served as the Acting Regional Manager of the same office and Division Manager of Davao del Sur Irrigation Management Office of NIA Region XI.

Tigbao Farmers received a 7M-worth Irrigation Facility

NIA Region IX, Zamboanga del Sur IMO (ZDS IMO) officially turned over Maragang II Small Irrigation Project (SIP) to Lacarayan-Maragang Irrigators Association (IA) in a Turnover Ceremony held at the Mini Gym of Brgy Maragang, Tigbao, ZDS on September 15, 2022.

The irrigation facility has a total project cost of 7M and is located in Brng. Maragang, Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur. The system will irrigate a total of 20 hectares of agricultural land benefitting 22 farmer beneficiaries.

ZDS IMO Manager Benedicto Isagani O. Pulis Jr. extended his gratitude to the Local Government officials of Tigbao and Brgy. Maragang for their utmost support during the implementation of the project.

Likewise, IA President Cordero shared his gratefulness to NIA for giving them the long-awaited irrigation facility which they consider as a big blessing to their community. This new irrigation will surely help to further improve the livelihood of local farmers in the area.

NIA-IX Supports Fight for Trash-Free Seas

September 17, 2022. Earlier today, 17 Volunteers from NIA Region IX have joined the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) to collect pounds of garbage in a local beach in Pagadian City

This activity was initiated by the City Government of Pagadian to raise awareness on the growing pollution of beaches and at the same time empower people to take an active role in the preservation and cleaning up of the ocean.

The ICC is a promise to bring cleanliness and purity to nature as a whole. And NIA commits not only to preserve its irrigation facilities, but to protect our coasts and waterways.
