NIA Zambo. Sibugay pays Courtesy Call to 2nd District Representative Marly Hofer-Hasim

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - The NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) led by Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania, conducted a courtesy call to newly elected 2nd District Representative Hon. Marly Hofer-Hasim.

The meeting focused on strengthening agency-LGU collaboration and presenting updates on ongoing irrigation projects for CY 2025, including proposals for CY 2026. Also discussed were convergence efforts with other line agencies to better support farmers and rural development.

A highlight was the presentation of the Titay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP), a major initiative under NIA Region IX expected to bring sustainable water access and improved productivity to local farming communities. NIA-ZSIMO remains committed to transparent coordination with local leaders to deliver quality irrigation services to the people of Zamboanga Sibugay.

DIPOLOG CITY - Officials from the NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (RSO) paid a courtesy call to re-elected Congressman Adrian Michael Amatong of the 3rd District, Congressman Roberto "Pinpin" Uy of the 1st District, and Municipal Mayor Shaia Ruth Uy of Polanco, on June 13, 2025, in Dipolog City.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss proposed and ongoing irrigation development initiatives across the province. A highlight was the request for funding support for the Feasibility Study (FS) of the proposed Liloy Irrigation Project in the 3rd District. Updates on the Rice Processing System were also tackled as part of the Agency's efforts to boost agricultural productivity and post-harvest efficiency. The courtesy visit reaffirmed the commitment of NIA and local leaders to align development goals and strengthen collaboration with implementing agencies to better serve the farming communities of Zamboanga del Norte.

Guisao-Cabaluay IA holds General Assembly and elects New Officers

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Guisao and Cabaluay Farmer Irrigators' Association (IA) held its General Assembly and Election of Officers on June 14, 2025, at the Guisao Barangay Multi-Purpose Hall. The event convened members and barangay officials, including Councilors George Osorio, Noriel Ayangco, and Rufo Francisco, signaling support from the local government.

The assembly highlighted the outgoing officers' accomplishments, financial updates, and ongoing irrigation developments under NIA's assistance. The transparent reporting promoted accountability and informed members of future plans.

The successful assembly facilitated by NIA ZAMBASULTA Institutional Development Unit reinforced the importance of unity among farmers, NIA, and local stakeholders in improving irrigation efficiency and agricultural productivity.

NIA Zambo. Sibugay Strengthens Partnership with LGU Bayog

BAYOG, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR - The NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO), led by Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania, together with Sibuguey Valley Irrigation System Head Engr. Wilson Cabrales, SWRFT Mr. Agustin B. Hilado, and Engr. Judan Pasculado, paid a courtesy visit to Bayog Mayor Hon. Celso A. Matias on June 10, 2025, at the Municipal Office.

The meeting covered updates on ongoing projects for 2025, proposed irrigation projects for 2026, the NIA-DPWH Convergence Program, and the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP). Potential irrigable areas were also discussed, with emphasis on supporting the province's goal of rice self- sufficiency. The team introduced the Rice Processing System (RPS) under the DA-PHILMEC Mechanization Program, which provides postharvest equipment such as dryers and milling machines under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

NIA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with local government units to enhance food security and support farmers in rice production and marketing.

NIA Region 9 conducts Mid-Year Assessment for Institutional Development Program

PAGADIAN CITY - To strengthen its commitment to organizational efficiency and sustainability, the NIA Region IX conducted its Institutional Development Program (IDP) Mid-Year Assessment on June 10-11, 2025 at the NIA Region IX Training Center in Balintawak, Pagadian City.

The activity gathered all Institutional Development Officers (IDOS) from across the region to evaluate the progress of IDP implementation. The assessment aimed to equip program implementers with skills and tools needed to measure achievements, identify challenges, and realign strategies for better program outcomes.
