September 29, 2022 - ZPRFIA Officers composed of thirteen (13) IA Presidents from the different provincial federations convene to list down important issues to be presented in the upcoming National NIA-IA Congress scheduled on October 11-14, 2022.

ZPRFIA President Mr. Alonto Marcaban presides the meeting to discuss, among others, the Federation's position on the Communal Irrigation Systems Devolution to LGUs and Election of ZPRFIA Officers for CY2022-2023.

NIA-IX Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan personally attended the meeting to hear first hand the issues and concerns of the farmers.

NIA-IX Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan together with Division Managers Maritez Cabatit Ignacio Soria of the Engineering Operations, Norma Cabrales of Admin and Finance, and Robert Berni Rada II of ZAMBASULTA Sub-Office, Atty. @Katherine Grace Cortez Lumilis, Legal Officer, and Engr. Arnon Carbonilla, Acting Chief of Operations Section joined the 4th Meeting of Zamboanga Peninsula Committee Devolution via video teleconferencing on Sept. 27, 2022.

The meeting aims to apprise the members on the Guidelines on the Growth Equity Fund (GEF), Sub-Committee on Communications Strategy's 2nd Quarter Report on the implementation of full devolution, and Status of submission and implementation of the Devolution Transition Plans by the National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGU).

PAGADIAN CITY. NIA-IX Regional Office employees receive their second dose of COVID-19 Booster Shots. The roll out of booster shots in the office was facilitated by the Sr. Industrial Nurse, Ms. Carousel Mae Soria-Lamatan  in coordination with Pagadian Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and RTI-ReachHealth of City Health Office (CHO) and Department of Health (DOH).

As part of the DOH's campaign of "Pinaslakas COVID-19", NIA-IX is fortunate to have its Mobile Vaccination Team to conduct its vaccination at NIA's own office making it easily accessible to its employees.  As public servants, NIA-IX management ensures that its employees are immune and protected from contracting the virus in order to keep its workplace safe.

NIA-IX expressed their utmost appreciation to Pagadian EOC and RTI ReachHealth for heading to NIA Region IX for its vaccination drive.  Thank you for making our employees safe and protected.

MIDSALIP, ZAMBO. SUR.  NIA-IX along with other line agencies converged on September 22, 2022 in Piwan, Midsalip, one of the remote barangays in Zamboanga del Sur, purposely to implement the Training Induction Program and Community-Based Training of Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (CLUSTER) - an NTF-ELCAC initiative managed by TESDA.

NIA-IX represented by Zamboanga del Sur IMO Institutional Unit, Ms. Ann Novabos Maligro, Supervising IDO presented an overview of the Agency and its irrigation programs for the information of the local community. Ms. Maligro discussed the process on how the community can avail irrigation programs to further improve their rice production.

At present, the farmers in the said barangay are dependent of rain water for their farms. With the introduction of NIA, farmer-participants were enlightened and given hope to an improved farming in their area.

NIA-IX Regional Office staff personally extends its warmest felicitations to their new full-fledged Regional Manager Salome N. Layasan who led the Flag Raising Ceremony on Sept. 26, 2022.
