NIA Turn-Over Six (6) Completed Irrigation Projects worth Php89.7M

Dipolog City - NIA-Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-office headed by Acting Manager Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales holds the turn-over ceremony of six (6) fully completed and operational irrigation projects to different Irrigators Associations (IAs) in Zamboanga del Norte. The activity was held at the Bamboo Garden, Dipolog City on August 26, 2022.

The program started with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting with NIA-IX Top Management, IA Presidents, Municipal Mayors, Congressional District Representatives and Representative from the Governor’s Office in the Province.
The completed irrigation projects are the following:

1. Lagag SIP- Php35, 000, 000.00
2. Lanawan SIP- Php21, 097, 000.00
3. Kalayuhan SIP- Php18, 262, 000.00
4. Malugas PIS- Php6, 800, 000.00
5. Lugdungan SPIP- Php7, 600, 000.00
6. La Esperanza CIS- Php1, 000, 000.00

P144.6 Million worth of Projects Turned-over to IAs in Basilan Province

Isabela City, Basilan - Seven (7) completed irrigation projects with a total project cost of 144.6 Million was turned over to its respective Irrigators Associations (IAs) during a Mass Turn-over Ceremony held last August 24, 2022 at Kasinnahan Hotel and Resort, Isabela City, Basilan.
Prior to the program, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting was held at the actual sites of Tumahubong Small Irrigation Project (SIP) located in Sumisip, Basilan and Lamitan Communal Irrigation System (CIS) located in Balobo, Lamitan City.

The completed irrigation projects - Pali CIS, Colonia CIS, Lamitan CIS 2018, Lamitan CIS 2019, Makiri SIP, Kumalarang SIP, and Tumahubong SIP were turned over to the following IAs respectively - Abong-abong Sitio Pali IA, LOCOSA IA, BALIMOSA IA, Ismael Makiri IA, Kumalarang Km. 6 Isabela City IA, and Tumabhubong Mahatallang IA. A total of 472 hectares of service area will be irrigated upon the operation of these irrigation facilities benefitting a total of 360 farmer beneficiaries in the area.

NIA-IX Management Conducts Site Inspection to Proposed National Irrigation Project in Zamboanga del Norte

NIA Region IX Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan together with Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) Chief, Engr. Joel G. Janiola, and the Technical Team of Zamboanga del Norte RSO conducted a site inspection on the proposed National Irrigation Project (NIP) located in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte on August 21, 2022.

The project named Patawag Liloy Small Irrigation Project (SRIP) is one of the big-ticket projects proposed by NIA IX – Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (RSO) headed by Acting Manager Wilson N. Cabrales. At present, the project is under Pre-Feasibility Study, and has a potential area of 1,017 hectares which covers thirty-seven (37) barangays in the municipality of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.

NIA-R9 Inaugurates and Turnover the 2nd Solar Pump Irrigation Project in Zamboanga del Norte

July 29, 2022 | The NIA-Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office Region-IX inaugurates and turn-over the second completed Solar Pump Irrigation Project in Zamboanga del Norte to the beneficiaries of Lugsong-Dipolog Irrigators Association with a total amount of Php7,600,000.00.

The newly accomplished Lugdungan Solar Pump Irrigation Project located at Brgy. Lugdungan, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte was composed of two (2) units pump house with reservoir, five(5) units submersible solar pump, 201meters canalization and 960meters polyethylene pipe which is now fully operational to irrigate the 33 hectares with 32 farmers beneficiaries of Lugsong-Dipolog IA headed by IA President Mr. Cyril H. Dagayloan. This ceremony was graced by the Acting Manager of NIA-ZDNRSO Engr. Wilson Cabarales, together with him were NIA-ZDNRSO IDS Head Mr. Dionisio Solutorio and other NIA-ZDNRSO staff. The said activity was made successfully through the effort and supervision of the Project In-charge Engr. Benjamine C. Biolango Jr. and IDO Donievic Y. Bago, and all BOTs and Officers of Lugsong-Dipolog IA.

NIA-R9 Culminates Nutrition Month Celebration

Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 491, also known as the “Nutrition Act of the Philippines”, NIA Region IX actively participated the Nutrition Month which is held every month of July.

This year’s theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-Samang gawan ng Solution” calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shift towards living with the COVID-19 virus.

NIA Region IX culminated the celebration on July 29, 2022 at NIA Function Hall, Tawagan Norte, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur. The activity was participated by NIA personnel and select Irrigators Associations (IA) members of Zamboanga del Sur.

Activities undertaken during the Nutrition Month Celebration were Zumba exercise, Non-communicable Disease Health Risk Assessment which includes health advocacy, BP taking, weight taking, and Lecture about Diabetes.
