NIA-R9 Zamboanga Sibugay IMO conducts a Go, Grow and Glow Food Feeding Activity

NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office conducts a Go, Grow and Glow food-feeding activity in Brgy. Labe, Ipil, Zamboanga NIA Zamboanga Sibugay IMO on July 29, 2022. In line with the culmination activities for the Nutrition Month Celebration, NIA Zamboanga Sibugay IMO spearheaded by Engr. Girlie M. Detalla conducted a food-feeding activity in Brgy. Labe in coordination with Brgy. Captain Emma Lirazan and Nurse Melanie Dahunan.

Said activity in line with the theme “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!” calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards living with the COVID-19 virus.

Aside from the food-feeding activity, the locals were also reminded of the do's, dont's and importance of cleanliness in the surroundings to prevent spread of disease. The activity ended with a Zumba participated by all attendees. 

Kapihan sa PIA talk show with NIA-R9

The Philippine Information Agency in partnership with DXPR 603 Radio Station Pagadian and iFM Pagadian conducted a one-hour talk show dubbed as “Kapihan sa PIA” on July 10, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with the National Irrigation Administration Region 9 as guest agency.

The resource speakers for this program are the Engr. Salome Naragas Layasan, Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region 9, Engr. Benedicto Isagani O. Pulis Jr., Manager of Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (ZDS IMO), and Mr. Alonto L. Marcaban, President of the Regional Federation of Irrigators Association (RFIA). Meanwhile, Mr. Gideon M. Corgue, Information Center Manager of PIA, ZDS served as the host of the Kapihan sa PIA talk show.

The program featured a free-flowing conversation wherein NIA was able to impart awareness to the general public their programs and services especially the irrigation development programs that benefit the farmers in Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly in Zamboanga del Sur.

New NIA-R9 Office Building Inaugurated

NIA Region IX – NIA Administrator Ricardo R. Visaya, together with NIA-Region IX Acting Regional Manager Salome N. Layasan, led the inauguration of the New NIA-Region IX Office Building located at Regional Center, Balintawak, Pagadian City on June 30, 2022.

The 6,107.82 square meters donated lot by the Pagadian City Government, headed by Mayor Samuel S. Co, will rise the new home of NIA-Region IX. Once completed, the three-storey with roof deck Administrative Building, with a total floor area of 966 sqm, will accommodate the transfer of regional office personnel from Labangan, Zamboanga Del Sur. Aside from its Administrative Building, the new regional office complex will have a three-storey Guest House and 442-square-meter Covered Court. The project has a total project cost of P150.173 million.

Turnover of 1M worth of Project to Nilabo-Longonan Irrigators’ Association

June 16, 2022 | The National Irrigation Administration Region IX- Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office successfully turned-over the P1 Million worth project to the recipients of Nilabo-Longonan Irrigators' Associations (IA).

This turn-over ceremony was done in a simple celebration following the safety protocols in the area. The inauguration was graced by Acting Manager Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales and was attended by the IA officials headed by its IA President Anita A. Villarosa, OIC-MAO Jordan Egay, District I Congressional Office represented by Hon. Melvin Ondong and NIA Supervising IDO- Mr. Dionisio C. Solutorio, NIA-Engineering Unit Head Engr. Rex Armentia, NIA- PIC Engr. Benjamine Biolango, NIA-IDO Glendie Tacuyan together with the other NIA employees.

This completed project includes dam desiltation and repair of canalizations of La Esperanza Communal Irrigation System

The successful activity were part of the series of project turn-overs scheduled for this CY 2022.
