NIA Zambo. Sibugay and SVIS join Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity

ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — Earlier today, July 4, 2025, the NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) and Sibuguey Valley Irrigation System (SVIS) took part in the Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity in celebration of NIA's 62nd Founding Anniversary. The activity was both held in Tomitom, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Kahayagan, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

The event was led by Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania and Acting SVIS Head Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales, with support from Tomitom Irrigators Association (IA) President Mr. Edilito Esmeralda, IA officers, Barangay Captain Ma. Elsie Bolodo, barangay officials, and NIA personnel.

A total of 800 trees were planted along the riverbanks near watershed. This will prevent soil erosion, improve water retention, and protect dams and reservoirs.

NIA ZAMBASULTA strengthens local ties in Preparation for 2025 Irrigation Project in Tawi-Tawi

LANGUYAN, TAWI-TAWI - The NIA ZAMBASULTA team, headed by Acting Manager Sandra T. Tero, paid a courtesy call and held a coordination meeting with key local officials in preparation for the conduct of georesistivity activities under the CY 2025 Extension of Groundwater Pump Irrigation Project (EGPIP) on July 3, 2025.

The team met with Languyan Vice Mayor Abubashar Sali Matba, Councilor Hji Abdel Marzsid Sali, Atty. Abidin Nuroddin, Anthony Kirby Zulqarnain, and Barangay Captain Winhar M. Hairil to discuss the technical processes and ensure community support and cooperation for the upcoming groundwater investigation.

This collaborative effort reflects NIA's commitment to work hand in hand with local leaders and communities to bring sustainable irrigation solutions to far-flung areas in support of local agriculture and farmer livelihoods.

NIA Region 9 joins Nationwide Tree Planting to celebrate 62nd Anniversary

LABANGAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR – In line with the 62nd Anniversary celebration of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the NIA Region 9 Regional Office participated in the nationwide simultaneous Tree Planting Activity with the theme "Luntiang Kagubatan, Matatag na Irigasyon." A total of 450 Narra tree seedlings were planted at the watershed area in Barangay Binayan on the morning of July 4, 2025.

Representing Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza, Admin and Finance Division Manager Albine Dave V. Jubilado emphasized that the activity forms part of NIA's Corporate Social Responsibility. He encouraged everyone to actively protect and preserve the environment, stressing the importance of watershed areas in sustaining irrigation systems that support local farmers.

The activity started at around 6:00 AM and was joined by nearly a hundred NIA employees. Also present were members of the Barangay Local Government Unit, led by Barangay Chairperson Generoso Carion, who expressed gratitude for the agency's continued support not only in irrigation development but also in environmental preservation.

Two Awards for NIA Region 9 Finance Team

The Finance Section of NIA Region 9 brought home two major awards during the NIA Financial Management Department Recognition Night held on June 26, 2025 at the Central Office in Quezon City. They earned the 1st Place in the Reconciliation Award for their outstanding efforts in keeping financial records accurate and consistent. They also clinched 3rd Place in the Cash Position Award for demonstrating strong cash flow management and fiscal discipline.
These recognitions reflect the team's commitment, integrity, and behind-the-scenes dedication that keep NIA Region 9 financially sound.

Receiving the awards were Admin and Finance Division Manager Albine Dave V. Jubilado along with Finance Section Head Resen Mae L. Recososa and Sr. Financial Planning Analyst Leonides C. Sabado.
