Typhoon Stricken employees received AYUDA from NIA-ARDOMA

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Nine (9) employees who were devastated by Typhoon Paeng in Zamboanga CIty recently received cash assistance from NIA - Association of Regional Directors and Operations Managers of the Philippines, Inc. (ARDOMA)

The outreach program aims to help, uplift, and alleviate suffering of the affected employees for them to get back on their feet and restart re-building their homes. The activity was held  on December 13, 2022 at ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office (ZRSO).

In behalf of NIA-ARDOMA, Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan led the distribution of cash assistance and was facilitated by Nurlinda A. Amil, the Acting Admin Officer of NIA ZRSO.

JET for IDP Implementers of NIA Region IX

The Institutional Development Unit (IDU) of NIA Regional Office IX conducted a three-day Job Enrichment Training (JET) for the Institutional Development Program (IDP) Implementers regionwide. The activity runs from December 2-4, 2022 (Friday, Saturday,  and Sunday) in Zamboanga City.

The training aims to review the basics of IDO work such as Institutional Development Program, the Theoretical Framework and its Basic Approach to Organizing, Functionality Survey Tool, and Right of Way Process Flow. The JET also serves as venue to re-tool the IDOs' capabilities, bridge their performance gap, improve quality of service to the IAs, give additional knowledge, enhance skills, and develop best attitude at work.

The activity was attended by Regional Manager Salome N. Layasan, Engineering and Operations Division Manager Maritez I. Soria, Supervising IDO Rosie Lyn R. Bayawa, Zambo. Norte RSO IDS Head Dionisio C. Solutorio, Zambo Sur IMO IDS Head Ann N. Maligro, ZAMBASULTA RSO IDS Head Leni S. Enriquez, SARIS/DIPRIS IDS Head Melvin P. Maata and LABRIS IDS Head Doroteo J. Tres Reyes Jr. and Regional CARP-IC Monitor Julieta A. Villaganas.

The seasoned and legendary IDS Heads of the region and the Regional Manager herself served as Resource Speakers wherein their great knowledge and various experiences gained from the long years of IDP Implementation encouraged the next generation of implementers to excel more and to do their best to produce strong, viable and self-reliant IAs.

Knowledge Enhancement through STEEP

The NIA ZDSIMO recently held a four (4) day activity last November 25-28, 2022 called Social Technological Economic Environmental Program (STEEP)  to raise awareness and provide knowledge/information about farming and irrigation development. Benedicto Isagani O. Pulis, Jr., Division Manager of Zamboanga del Sur of NIA ZDSIMO and Salome N. Layasan, Regional Manager of Region IX together with STEEP Participants paid a courtesy call to Region XI Admin.

The participants went to MIRAL Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) led by Engr. Benjie Neirrie, Davao del Sur Operations and Maintenance Head. MIRAL SRIP was built to serve Bansalan and Matanao in Davao del Sur in order to improve the people's economic status and livelihood.

Also, NIA ZDSIMO paid a courtesy call to the Acting IMO Manager of NIA Davao Oriental, Engr. Gil Valdez and to Mr. Carmelito R. Lapoot, Chief of Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops & Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) of Department of Agriculture Region X.  Mr. Lapoot discussed the High Valued Crops such as Strawberry and Cherry Tomatoes. He also emphasized the importance of agriculture to our society.

Breaking Gender Stereotypes

November 29, 2022 | The National Irrigation Administration R-IX ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office conducts Gender and Development (GAD) Awareness Program in line with the commitment to pursue in the workplace to promote women empowerment and ensure full participation which is essential in an organization and society as a whole.

This awareness seminar aims to introduce basic concept on GAD to deepen each person's understanding and application in their respective work.

The event is graced by the resource speaker Mr. Wilfredo J. Aporongao, MPA, Zamboanga City's GAD Officer.
