NIA Zambasulta holds Pre-Construction Meeting for Solar Irrigation Project in Patikul

PATIKUL, SULU — The NIA Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta) Regional Sub-Office held a Pre-Construction Meeting with the Lumbaan Kabbon Takas Irrigators Association (IA) on June 3, 2025, in Barangay Kabbon Takas. The meeting focused on the upcoming Solar Pump Irrigation Project that will irrigate 15 hectares of farmland, aiming to boost agricultural productivity and provide sustainable support to local farmers.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the project's goals, timeline, and the roles of stakeholders involved. Once completed, the solar-powered system is expected to improve irrigation access and farming output in the area, contributing to the development of agriculture in Patikul and other remote communities.
Present during the meeting were the officers and members of the Lumbaan Kabbon Takas IA, Barangay Chairman Mr. Ahajuli A. Ahajani, Patikul Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Farhan Abdulla, NIA Zambasulta Acting Manager Engr. Sandra T. Tero, Irrigation Development Officer Fernaida K. Dahim, and contractor representative Mr. Franco Caingin Jr. The initiative highlights NIA's continued efforts to deliver modern and inclusive irrigation services across the region.

NIA and Nipaan IA strengthen collaboration to improve Irrigation services in Piñan

PIÑAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — In a continued effort to enhance irrigation service delivery, the NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (NIA-ZDNRSO) facilitated a Turn-Out Service Area Group (TSAG) Meeting with the Nipaan Irrigators Association (IA) on June 3, 2025 in Barangay Bacuyong, Piñan. The meeting focused on identifying priority areas for improvement and reinforcing collaboration to support the needs of local farmers.

Among the key topics discussed were the proposed repairs of the existing dam structure and canal lining in Main Canals 1 and 2 (MC1 and MC2), which play a vital role in sustaining efficient water distribution to agricultural lands. As a proactive step, the group agreed to submit a formal resolution outlining these concerns, to be endorsed to the Office of the Representative for potential funding and support. The meeting gathered key NIA personnel, including Construction Unit Head Engr. Jessreel Intic and Institutional Development Unit Head Alvin Dequito, alongside officers and members of the Nipaan IA.

The session concluded with a shared commitment to pursue solutions through strong partnerships, timely action, and continuous dialogue to ensure resilient and farmer-focused irrigation development.

NIA conducts TSAG Meeting to strengthen Irrigation Services

DIPOLOG CITY - The NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDNRSO) conducted a Turn-Out Service Area Group (TSAG) Meeting for Dipolog National Irrigation System (NIS) Division 2, specifically covering the Punta-Sinaman area. Held in Barangay Sinaman, Dipolog City, the activity aimed to reinforce coordination and cooperation among stakeholders to ensure efficient irrigation operations and sustainable agricultural development.

A key highlight of the meeting was the election of new officers for the Irrigators Association (IA), reinforcing leadership continuity and encouraging greater farmer participation in irrigation management. Engr. Jessreel Intic, Construction Unit Head, stressed the importance of collaboration in addressing operation and maintenance concerns. He also shared the successful completion of the Solar Pump Irrigation Project in Barangay Pian, Polanco, which will directly benefit farmers in the Sinaman area. The event was attended by IA officials and members, along with key NIA personnel including Engr. Intic, Institutional Development Unit Head Alvin Dequito, and other stakeholders. The meeting concluded with a strong commitment to uphold effective irrigation services to support the farming communities in Division 2.

NIA boosts Farmers' Livelihood through EPAHP

PAYAO, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - The NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (NIA- ZSIMO), in partnership with the Bulawan-Kulasian-Guiwan Irrigators' Association (IA), held a community event in Barangay Bulawan to support local farmers through the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program on May 30, 2025. The activity featured the blessing of the IA's newly acquired rice harvester and the oath-taking of its newly elected officers.

A highlight was the signing of a marketing agreement between the IA and Balungisan Rice Trader, represented by Mr. Ariel Saneco. The partnership, under the EPAHP initiative, aims to address food insecurity and strengthen farmers' access to institutional markets, paving the way for improved livelihoods and sustainable rural development.

The event was facilitated by Institutional Development Unit Head Mr. Rene E. Maghanoy and Irrigation Development Officer Ms. Judith S. Epogon, with the support of incoming IA President Mr. Danny T. Bayona. It was attended by IA officers, members, and local officials led by Barangay Councilors Jose Benny N. Jagodilla, Hermie Galvez, and Iresh Basa. NIA continues to empower IAs by linking them to market opportunities and collaborative government efforts.
