NIA Region 9 conducts Mid-Year Assessment for Institutional Development Program

PAGADIAN CITY - To strengthen its commitment to organizational efficiency and sustainability, the NIA Region IX conducted its Institutional Development Program (IDP) Mid-Year Assessment on June 10-11, 2025 at the NIA Region IX Training Center in Balintawak, Pagadian City.

The activity gathered all Institutional Development Officers (IDOS) from across the region to evaluate the progress of IDP implementation. The assessment aimed to equip program implementers with skills and tools needed to measure achievements, identify challenges, and realign strategies for better program outcomes.

The event was led by the Regional Office Institutional Development Unit headed by Ms. Rosielyn B. Bayawa, and was graced by Regional Manager Engr. June Nathaniel S. Plaza as guest speaker. In his message, RM Plaza highlighted the vital role of IDOs in initiating and sustaining NIA's projects. He also urged them to continuously reassess their goals, seek growth, and expand their efforts to meet the evolving needs of farmers and support the Agency's mission.
This mid-year assessment aims to ensure that NIA's IDP remains effective, responsive, and aligned with the NIA's mission of empowering Irrigators' Associations and promoting sustainable irrigation development.

NIA holds Federation Meeting and Cooperative Evaluation to support irrigation development

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - The NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) conducted the quarterly meeting of the Zamboanga Sibugay Communal Federation of Irrigators Associations (ZSCFIA) on June 5, 2025, at the ZSIMO Conference Hall in Sanito. Led by Federated President Mr. Eleazer Ricaborda and joined by NIA officials including Engr. Marie Therese T. Taladaua, Mr. Rene E. Maghanoy, and regional representatives, the meeting was attended by 30 IA presidents and officers from across the province.

The meeting tackled key updates on irrigation development, service delivery, and community involvement. A health awareness session on Mpox was also conducted by Sr. Industrial Nurse Ms. Carousel S. Lamatan, highlighting prevention, early detection, and hygiene practices to promote farmer health and safety. In line with NIA's commitment to organizational development, a review and validation of the Civil Society Organization (CSO) accreditation application and legal documents of the Dansulao Multi-Purpose Cooperative was conducted by Insitutional Development Program Head, Ms. Rosielyn R. Bayawa. This evaluation aimed to ensure compliance with NIA standards, supporting the cooperative's role in promoting sustainable irrigation and agricultural development in the province.

NIA Region 9 Receives New Fleet of O&M Equipment and Vehicles

The NIA Region 9 is set to boost its operational capabilities with the arrival of newly acquired Operations and Maintenance (O&M) equipment and vehicles. This latest delivery forms part of the 3rd tranche of NIA's Re-Fleeting Program, aimed at modernizing the Agency's logistical and operational resources nationwide.

Already delivered to the region are seven (7) mini dump trucks, two (2) self-loading trucks, one (1) motor grader, one (1) coaster service bus, and one (1) Toyota Tamaraw. Currently en route to the region are additional heavy equipment, including one (1) long reach excavator, one (1) tractor crawler (dozer), and three (3) backhoe loaders. These units are expected to arrive soon and will further enhance NIA's ability to carry out timely maintenance, rehabilitation, and construction of irrigation systems.

This equipment upgrade marks a significant step in improving service delivery and support to local farmers, ensuring more efficient and reliable irrigation operations throughout Region 9.

NIA ZAMBASULTA Pays Courtesy Visit to Zamboanga City Mayor-Elect

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Earlier today, June 9, 2025, NIA ZAMBASULTA RSO Acting Manager Engr. Sandra T. Tero paid a courtesy visit to Mayor-Elect Hon. Khymer Adan Olaso to discuss the agency's proposed FY2026 projects under the regular fund.

Engr. Tero presented the list of validated irrigation systems and proposed structures for implementation, particularly highlighting potential projects for the city's first district. A copy of the project list was furnished to the mayor-elect for reference and coordination.

Also discussed was the deed of donation for the NIA Region IX Office in Zamboanga City, with Mayor- Elect Olaso assuring support in ensuring the legality of all pertinent documents.
