NIA Zambo. Norte conducts Courtesy Call to Elected Mayor of Sergio Osmeña, ZDN

DIPOLOG CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE — June 9, 2025 — Officials from the NIA Zamboanga del Norte Syb-Office (ZDNRSO) paid a courtesy call today to newly elected Municipal Mayor Gleen Yu of Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte, at Barangay Sta. Isabel, Dipolog City.

The NIA delegation was composed of Construction Unit Head Engr. Jessreel Intic, Acting Planning Unit Head Engr. Vanessa Grace Dugay, and Acting IDO-A Vincent Caboverde. The purpose of the visit was to establish initial coordination with Mayor Yu regarding proposed and ongoing irrigation projects in the municipality. Discussions centered on the strategic alignment of NIA's irrigation development programs with the priorities of the new local administration.
Mayor Yu expressed appreciation for NIA's proactive engagement and reaffirmed his support for the agency's initiatives aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving water accessibility for farmers in Sergio Osmeña.

NIA Zambo. Norte conducts Mass IMT Contract Signing for 5 New Dipolog NIS Divisions

DIPOLOG CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE — The NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDNRSO) successfully held a Mass Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contract Signing for five newly organized divisions under the Dipolog National Irrigation System (NIS) on June 5, 2025 at the NIA Conference Hall in Gulayon, Dipolog City.

The event marked a major step forward in the decentralization of irrigation system management, with officers of the newly formed divisions formalizing their commitment to shared responsibilities under the IMT program.

Leading the activity were ZDNRSO Construction Head Engr. Jessreel Intic and IDU & Operations Head Alvin Dequito, who underscored the significance of the IMT process in promoting accountability, sustainability, and collaborative governance between NIA and Irrigators' Associations (IAs). Providing technical and operational support during the event were Engr. Rhiza Pao and Mr. Ford Rodriguez of the NIA Regional Operations Section.

NIA Zambo. Sibugay joins Stakeholders' Consultation for Infrastructure Development Plan 2025- 2028

DIPLAHAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - The NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) participated in the Stakeholders' Consultation for the Infrastructure Development Plan 2025-2028 of Zamboanga Sibugay's 1st District, held on June 5, 2025, at the Congressional Office of incoming 1st District Representative Atty. Marlo C. Bancoro, who spearheaded the event.

Representing-ZSIMO were Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania, Acting Division Manager, Engr. Ana Rachell C. Dahan, Head of the Planning and Design Unit; and Ms. Daren Jean M. Tubat, Administrative Officer. The consultation brought together key representatives from national government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and state universities.

Following the forum, NIA conducted a courtesy visit with Congressman Atty. Bancoro to present its proposed projects for 2026, convergence initiatives, updates on ongoing projects for 2025, and identified potential areas for irrigation development within the 1st District.
Reaffirming its commitment to sustainable agriculture, NIA highlighted priority projects aligned with both national and regional development goals. The agency expressed its strong support for continued collaboration with stakeholders to enhance infrastructure and boost agricultural productivity in the province.

NIA holds TSAG Meeting in Dumingag, addresses irrigation concerns of three IAs

DUMINGAG, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — The NIA Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (ZDSIMO) conducted a Turn Out Service Area Group (TSAG) Meeting on June 3, 2025, at the Leving Uy Function Hall, bringing together three Irrigators' Associations (IAs): Marlibama FIA, DRFIA FIA Inc., and Waterlily FIA Inc.

During the meeting, the IAs raised a common concern - the urgent need for repair, rehabilitation, and improvement of their irrigation systems, which are essential to sustaining their farming operations and livelihoods. Engr. Girlie M. Detalla, Division Manager of NIA-ZDSIMO, led the discussions and assured the IAs of the agency's commitment to responsive action.

In response, NIA announced that technical teams will be dispatched to inspect the irrigation systems. The results will guide the preparation of rehabilitation plans, which may be integrated into upcoming infrastructure projects to better support the needs of local farmers.
