NIA-IX Management Conducts Site Inspection to Proposed National Irrigation Project in Zamboanga del Norte

NIA Region IX Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan together with Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) Chief, Engr. Joel G. Janiola, and the Technical Team of Zamboanga del Norte RSO conducted a site inspection on the proposed National Irrigation Project (NIP) located in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte on August 21, 2022.
The project named Patawag Liloy Small Irrigation Project (SRIP) is one of the big-ticket projects proposed by NIA IX – Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (RSO) headed by Acting Manager Wilson N. Cabrales. At present, the project is under Pre-Feasibility Study, and has a potential area of 1,017 hectares which covers thirty-seven (37) barangays in the municipality of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte.
Through the leadership of Administrator Benny D. Antiporda, the agency strongly pushes the irrigation of all remaining potential areas in the country.
Thus, NIA Region IX also drives the realization of big-ticket irrigation projects in the province in order to provide local farmers a year-round supply of irrigation water that will help increase the yield and production of rice as well as high value and other diversified crops in the Province of Zamboanga del Norte.
