NIA conducts Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contract in Zamboanga del Norte

November 4, 2021- The National Irrigation Administration Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-office (NIA-ZDNRSO) and Lugsong-Dipolog IA, Inc. conducted the signing of Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contract at NIA-ZDNRSO Conference Hall. This activity refers to the process of taking-over of the management, operation and maintenance of irrigation systems by the Irrigators Association (IA).

Lugdungan Pump Irrigation System (PIS) has a total of 33 hectares service area with 10 hectares operational area by using the ground water pump, and it was managed by 15 farmers’ beneficiaries.

The activity was participated by NIA-ZDNRSO Acting Manager – Engr. Wilson N. Cabrales, Institutional & Operations Unit Head-Mr. Dionsio C. Solutorio, IDO assigned-Mr. Donievic Bago, Institutiona staff and Members of the IA headed by President Cyril H. Dagayloan

IA President Dagayloan extended his gratitude to NIA and other lined agencies for giving support and assistance to the farmers.

 

Two Irrigation Projects Turn Over to Farmers

November 3, 2021 | The National Irrigation Administration Region IX ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office under the management of Acting Manager Engr. Robert Berni L. Rada II inaugurates and turn over two completed irrigation projects to the 247 farmer beneficiaries of Mercedes Culianan Cabaluay Talabaan Irrigators Association, Inc. (MCCT IA, Inc.) undertaken by Administration through a Community Participation or commonly called "pakyaw labor" which are participated by farmers of the irrigators' association under the supervision of the Project-in-Charge Pablito F. Bayawa.

The completed projects for Mercedes CIS under the fund source of Repair-CIS CY 2019 amounting to Php3.0M was for the construction of canalization while for the Php7.3M was on the repair of existing main canal & construction of spillway and canalization.

Gracing the turn-over ceremony, the ever supportive to the farmers, Honorable District II Congressman Manuel Jose "Mannix" Dalipe, Honorable Councilor John Dalipe, public servants and the officers, Boards of Trustees and members of the MCCT IA, Inc. headed by the IA President Hja. Aida Nuño Loong.

Solar Power Pump Irrigation System soon to be operational in Zamboanga del Norte

A solar-powered irrigation system is currently being constructed and installed in Malugas Communal Irrigation System (CIS) located in Barangay Malugas, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte.

This system has 5 units of 3-horse power capacity pump that can irrigate five (5) hectares of agricultural land. The project is set to be completed within the year and will soon benefit 28 farmer families in area.

 

NIA Region IX provides irrigation to High-Value Crop growers in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City – The National Irrigation Administration Region IX inaugurated and turned-over Sinuropan Communal Irrigation System (CIS) Extension at Sitio Sinuropan, Barangay Licomo, Zamboanga City on October 20, 2021.

Sinuropan CIS Ext'n was officially turned over to Bermuda Sinuropan Irrigators Association (IA) headed by President Junasky A. Otap. The system can irrigate 127 hectares of agricultural land planted with high-value crops particularly Oil Palm; thus, benefitting 24 farmer families with oil palm plantation.

The completion of the system was supervised by NIA-9 ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-office (ZRSO) headed by Acting Manager Robert Berni L. Rada II. It consist of Ground Level Reservoirs and Pipe Laying composed of two (2) 1000 - cubic meter and one (1) 300 – cubic meter capacity tanks.

The ceremony was graced by Congressman Manuel Dalipe, Zamboanga City Councilor John Dalipe and company, barangay officials, IA officials & members, Board of Trustees, and NIA-9 ZRSO personnel who also served as the event organizer.

 

NIA Region IX conducts test run of the IA Model Farm Drip Irrigation System

October 25, 2021- The National Irrigation Administration-Salug River Irrigation System in partnership with Evergreen Malamboon FIA conducts test run of the IA Model Farm Drip Irrigation system.

Drip Irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The goal is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation. Drip irrigation systems distribute water through a network of valves, pipes, tubing, and emitters.

These facilities will showcase the actual application of the different modern farming technologies, an enhanced learning opportunity for farmers and other stakeholders.
