
MOLAVE, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR - The National Irrigation Administration – Salug River Irrigation System (NIA-SARIS) participated in the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) session of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Molave on July 16, 2025, to present two major proposals aimed at advancing agricultural development in the municipality. These include the adoption of Irrigators Association (IA) policies into a municipal ordinance and a formal request for land donation for the proposed Rice Processing System (RPS). The session was presided by Vice Mayor Hon. Monalisa J. Glepa and attended by key SB Officials, served as a platform for NIA to align its programs with local governance initiatives. Representing NIA Region IX, Supervising Institutional Development Officer Ms. Rosielyn Bayawa, along with SARIS personnel, presented the proposed ordinance to institutionalize IA policies. This legislative move seeks to strengthen irrigation-related regulations, ensure responsible water resource management, and promote equitable irrigation distribution among local farmers in Molave.
In addition, NIA formally presented its request for the allocation of land intended for the construction of a Rice Processing System (RPS). A strategic infrastructure project designed to improve post-harvest handling, reduce losses, and increase the market value of rice produced by local farmers. The SB Council expressed appreciation for NIA's proactive initiatives and assured that both proposals will be considered in upcoming sessions, affirming the growing collaboration between NIA and LGU Molave in pursuing sustainable and inclusive agricultural development.
