Bingon IA distributes food packs to Indigenous Peoples in Zamboanga Sibugay

SIAY, ZAMBO. SIBUGAY - The Bingon Farmers Irrigators Association (FIA) distributed food packs composed of grocery items to 20 members of the Indigenous Peoples in Purok 8, Balagon Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The community service was initiated by the NIA - IA in partnership with the Philippine Army (PA) and Philippine National Police (PNP). NIA is grateful for the active leadership of President Dionisio Ladra of Bingon FIA for extending their support to the less fortunate sector of the community.

31 IAs Convene for a Review & Planning Workshop in Zamboanga Sibugay

DIPLAHAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - Thirty One (31) Irrigators Associations (IAs) under the National Irrigation System (NIS) of Zamboanga Sibugay convened for a Review and Planning Workshop spearheaded by NIA Region IX - Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (IMO) on September 8, 2022 at D'Haven Suites, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The activity aimed to present the accomplishments of every IA so as to share its best practices to its fellow irrigators, and to come up strategies in order to implement its remaining targets for the year. More importantly, it served as an avenue to discuss solutions on the issues and concerns of the IAs.

"The activity is done for NIA to hear and know first-hand the problems encountered by our IAs. We are partners and we cannot do it without you" said Ms. Rosie Lyn Bayawa, Head of Institutional Development Section of NIA Region IX as she addressed her message for the farmers.

258 Parents and Children benefitted from NIA-IA-Army Medical Mission in Zamboanga Sibugay

DIPLAHAN, ZAMBO. SIBUGAY - The Ginto sa Sakahan Irrigators' Association (IA) under NIA Zamboanga Sibugay IMO - Sibuguey Valley Irrigation System (SVIS) in partnership with 44th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army conducted a joint medical mission that benefitted 56 children on August 18, 2022 in Barangay Balangao, Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The activity called "Malasakit sa Kapwa IA" is part of the agency and the IA's mandate to contribute in socio-economic and nation building.  The community service comprised of medical assistance, feeding program, and lecture on Good Grooming, Balanced Nutrition, and Health Education. The children were also given free circumcision and haircut during the activity.

The agency together  with its IA commit to support and provide assistance to its fellow irrigators associations and any government and non-government entities for the benefit of the community.

Extra Livelihood for Zamboangueño Farmers

Twenty (20) farmers from Lumayang Irrigators Association (IA) were trained on the production of Banana & Cassava Chips, Cassava Flan, and Ube Jam.

The Livelihood Training Demonstration was spearheaded by NIA Region IX ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-office in partnership with TESDA Region IX, held on August 31, 2022 at Lumayang Farmers Center.

The trainers from TESDA were Ms. Sheba Pallar, Sr. TESDA Specialist and Ms. Daisy Cabcaban, TESDA GIP and were also facilitated by NIA IDOs Jackielyn T. Manalo and Jameson B. Atilano.

This activity was done in order to help the local farmers especially the female spouses to sustain to earn additional income to sustain their daily household needs.
