NIA conducts TSAG Meeting with Licopon Bolong IA to tackle irrigation concerns

Zamboanga City - The NIA ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub Office (NIA ZRSO) conducted a Turnout Service Area Group (TSAG) meeting with the officers and members of Licopon Bolong Irrigators' Association (IA) at the Mangga-Bolong Communal Irrigation System in Barangay Bolong on May 30, 2025. The meeting was led by NIA ZRSO Assistant Acting Manager Engr. Frazel Hassan along with NIA ZRSO personnel. The gathering aimed to address pressing concerns raised by the IA members regarding their irrigation system.

The meeting served as a productive platform to discuss opportunities for improving the irrigation system. Among the key topics were the proposed repair of the dam's downstream portion, rehabilitation of about 400 meters of the main canal, and concreting of lined canals. The IA also shared observations on upstream flooding that affects water flow, opening the way for collaborative solutions.

NIA meets with Buayan-Calapan IA and Contractor for CY 2025 Project Implementation

KABASALAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - On May 30, 2025, the National Irrigation Administration - Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) conducted a coordination meeting with the Irrigators Association (IA) of Buayan-Calapan Irrigation System and the contractor for the Calendar Year 2025 project implementation under said Communal Irrigation System (CIS).

The meeting was led by NIA ZSIMO Head Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania, together with technical personnel from NIA ZSIMO. Discussions focused on project timelines, implementation procedures, and roles and responsibilities of all parties to ensure smooth, timely, and quality execution of works.

With both the IA and contractor onboard, the collaborative dialogue underscored NIA's commitment to participatory project management, transparency, and the delivery of responsive irrigation services to the farming communities of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Farmers trained on Financial Management and Recordkeeping

ZAMBOANGA CITY — A two-day training on Financial Management and Basic Farm Recording was successfully conducted on May 29-30, 2025, at Terra Cotta Hotel, Veterans Avenue Ext, Zamboanga City. The activity was designed for cooperatives, clusters, and other farmer beneficiaries, with the goal of strengthening their capacity in managing financial resources and maintaining proper farm records. The training was facilitated by speakers from the Department of Agriculture Region IX, in coordination with the Zamboanga City Agriculture Office.

Participants gained valuable knowledge on the importance of financial management in running their organizations and farms effectively. They also learned how to use various farm and financial record forms to track income, expenses, and overall financial performance. For NIA-assisted cooperatives, the training was attended by members of the Distrito Uno IA Agriculture Cooperative and Costa Este IA Agriculture Cooperative. The activity served as an important step toward promoting accountability, sustainability, and improved decision-making among farmer organizations.

NIA conducts TSAG Meeting for Ditay-Guinoman CIS Farmers

DIPLAHAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - On May 30, 2025, the National Irrigation Administration - Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO), under the leadership of Engr. Maria Gertrudes P. Gania, held a Turn-Out Service Area Group (TSAG) Meeting with Irrigators Association (IA) members and farmers of the Ditay-Guinoman Communal Irrigation System & Extension, covering Sectors 5 and 6 of the Ditay Area.

The meeting focused on the latest updates regarding the repair of the dam and siphon to ensure the continued and efficient delivery of irrigation services. It also served as a venue for open dialogue, allowing farmers to raise pressing issues and concerns affecting their respective service areas.

This initiative reflects NIA ZSIMO's commitment to strengthening farmer collaboration, improving irrigation service delivery, and fostering inclusive decision-making in line with the agency's thrust toward sustainable agriculture and rural development.

NIA and DAR convene to support Titay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project

IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - On May 30, 2025, the National Irrigation Administration - Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO), through its Planning and Design team led by Engr. Ana Rachel C. Dahan, held a coordination meeting with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in line with the ongoing Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Report of the Titay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (Titay SRIP).

DAR Chief of Operations Mary Gay C. Abuton, with personnel Cherry Ann C. Rasonable and Ragde N. Garcia, joined the discussions which focused on identifying affected Comprehensive Land Ownership Award (CLOA) titles. The DAR team also committed to assist in gathering documents essential to the project's Land Acquisition and Resettlement Framework (LARF) and Right-of-Way (ROW) negotiation processes.

The meeting reflects a shared commitment to inclusive rural development and ensures that land tenure concerns are addressed early on in this vital irrigation initiative for Titay.
