Tungawan Farmers receive Pump Irrigation Project from NIA

TUNGAWAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY - The Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Officer (ZSIMO) of NIA Region IX formally turned-over Tungawan Pump Irrigation Project (PIP) in a Turn-over Ceremony held at Barangay Malungon, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Tungawan PIP was turned over to Malungon Calonayan Irrigators Association, who will then take over the system's operation and maintenance.  The project can potentially  irrigate 20 hectares of farmland that will benefit 35 farmers and their families.

Farmers Association links with NIA for Developmental Programs

The Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Farmers Association of Alicia and Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay held a brief courtesy call to NIA Zamboanga Sibugay Irrigation Management Office (ZSIMO) on January 31, 2023 in line with the ARBO's Linkaging Initiative cum Project Resource Mobilization to different government provincial offices.

The main objective of the activity is to link and initiate project resources for selected ARBs and Farmers Associations in Alicia and Imelda through its accreditation with various support NGAs in the province in order to access and avail development programs, projects, and services that may address their developmental needs.

Present during the call  is ZSIMO Head, Engr. Girlie M. Detalla and ZSIMO staff with Municipal Agrarian Reform Office (MARO) Imelda - Romulo Perez and Presidents of Farmers Associations and Irrigators Associations.

NIA-IX Management pays coutresy call to the Governor of Zamboanga Sibugay

Engr. Salome Naragas Layasan, Regional Manager of NIA Region IX together with Zamboanga Sibugay IMO Manager, Engr. Girlie Detalla  paid a courtesy call to Honorable Ann Hofer, Zamboanga SIbugay Governor on January 30, 2023.

Also present during the call is Vice Governor Rey Andre Olegario and the Governor's staff. During the meeting held at the Provicial Capitol, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, matters relating to the Titay Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) were discussed such as the conduct of Road Right of Way negotiation, Resettlement Area, acquisition of Environmental Compliance, and the conduct of Free Prior & Informed Consent (FPIC).

LINOGUAYAN SIP

The Linoguayan Small Irrigation Project (SIP) is located in Vicenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur.

The scope of works of this 3-million irrigation project include canal excavation and 899 meters canalization. This irrigation facility will irrigate 15 hectares of farmlands and will benefit 20 farmer families.
