Batayan United Farmers Irrigators Association Receives Recognition at DENR-IX Parangal 2025

PAGADIAN CITY - The Batayan United Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc. (BUFIA) was recognized at the DENR-IX Parangal 2025: Stakeholders' Recognition and Service Awards on June 24, 2025 for its outstanding contributions to sustainable irrigation and community-driven agriculture in Zamboanga del Norte.

Held at the DENR Regional Office IX in Balintawak, Pagadian City, the annual event celebrates individuals and organizations that play a pivotal role in environmental protection and sustainable development in the region. Organized by the DENR-IX PRAISE Committee, this year's Parangal highlighted the impact of grassroots initiatives on environmental stewardship.

BUFIA, managing the Batayan 1 Communal Irrigation System in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte stood out for its proactive efforts to promote climate-resilient farming practices and support local livelihoods. Representatives from the NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDNRSO), including the Institutional Development Unit, joined BUFIA in receiving the award.

DIPOLOG CITY, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE - Officials from the NIA Zamboanga del Norte Regional Sub- Office (ZDNRSO) paid a courtesy call to Honarable Mayor Darel Uy at the Dipolog City Hall to present the development proposals and strengthen coordination with local government.

The meeting tackled the proposed inclusion of the Dipolog National Irrigation Project (NIP) access road under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), along with province-wide project initiatives focused on non-operational areas and other areas identified for future development.

NIA represented by Construction Unit Head, Engr. Jessreel Intic along with other key officials presented the proposed projects for fiscal year 2026 onwards, highlighting their commitment to collaborative planning and sustainable infrastructure development for the region.

New Heavy Equipment arrives in Region 9 under NIA's Re-Fleeting Program

NIA Region 9 received a boost in its irrigation infrastructure support with the arrival of five (5) newly heavy equipment units under the National Irrigation Administration's (NIA) Re-Fleeting Program. The delivery includes one long reach excavator, one crawler tractor, and three backhoe loaders.
These machines are expected to significantly enhance NIA Region 9's operation and maintenance capabilities, enabling faster and more efficient implementation of irrigation projects. Their arrival will also help improve the functionality and effectiveness of existing irrigation structures, thereby ensuring better service delivery and stronger support for the local farmers.

NIA and DTI hold Packaging and Labeling Workshop for Triple L IA

LABASON, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a one-day Product Packaging and Labeling Workshop for Triple L Irrigators Association, Inc. on June 23, 2025, in Lopoc, Labason.

The event was attended by 15 members of the Triple L Irrigators Association, who participated in sessions focused on improving product packaging and labeling to boost marketability. The workshop was facilitated by DTI's Ms. Arian Bodiongan, who shared valuable insights on design, compliance, and adding value to local products.

Also present were Mr. Alvin Dequito, Head of NIA Zamboanga del Norte's Institutional Development Unit, and Ms. Princess Nica G. Lu, the area's assigned Institutional Development Officer.

This initiative is part of DTI and NIA's continuing efforts to help irrigators' associations grow into
sustainable, competitive agri-enterprises.
