
The Lower Tigbao Licomo Small Irrigation Project (SIP) located in Licomo, Zamboanga City was inaugurated on February 16, 2023 and was subsequently turned over to Tigbao Communal Integrated Irrigators Association (IA) represented by IA President Geronimo A. Francisco.
The Lower Tigbao Licomo SIP is a 33-million peso project wherein the scope of work includes construction of 0.93-kilometer service access road, 80-meter protection dike, 4.58-kilometer canal structure and canalization. 30 farmer beneficiaries and their families will benefit from this completed irrigation facility.
Joining the ceremony as Keynote Speaker is 2nd District Representative Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, represented by his Chief of Staff – Jose Mari Dalipe. “The Congress has put more funds in the construction of communal irrigation systems and SIPs in our far-flung areas. I laud NIA family, as well as the City Government of Zamboanga and the IA for this achievement” Congressman Dalipe said in his written speech. He also expressed his request to the IAs to properly maintain the facility so as to ensure effective and efficient irrigation services for the benefit of the Zamboangueño farmers.
The ceremony was spearheaded by NIA IX – ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office (ZRSO) headed by Engr. Robert Berni L. Rada II, and was facilitated by ZRSO's Institutional Development Unit led by Ms. Leni S. Enriquez. Also joining the ceremony were Ms. Erwina Tejero – Representative of Councilor Joselito Macrohon; Mr. Ivan Agno from the Office of the City Agricuture; Hon. Jesus A. Sanson – Chairman of Licomo Barangay Council; IA Officers and Board of Trustees (BOTs).
