ZAMBOANGA CITY - In celebration of Philippine Arbor Day, the NIA ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office participated in a citywide tree planting activity dubbed "Arbor Day na Ciudad de Zamboanga." This initiative, led by the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR), is part of the city's commitment to environmental protection and public engagement in tree planting, as mandated by City Ordinance No. 281.
The event took place early this morning at Sitio Brea, Barangay Lumayang, with participants gathering at the Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) area. Selected NIA personnel joined the activity along with members of the Lumayang Irrigators Association.
Narra trees were planted to contribute to the reforestation efforts and to raise awareness about environmental conservation in Zamboanga City. NIA ZAMBASULTA's participation demonstrates its continued support for local government initiatives that promote ecological sustainability and community involvement.
