
SULU PROVINCE — To reinforce collaboration and support for upcoming irrigation initiatives, the NIA Zamboanga-Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta) conducted two significant courtesy calls on June 3, 2025, with key officials in the province of Sulu.
ZAMBASULTA Regional Sub-Office Acting Manager Engr. Sandra T. Tero, along with Irrigation Development Officer Fernaida K. Dahim, Geotagger Neil B. Rojas, and contractor representative Mr. Franco Caingin Jr., paid a courtesy visit to Major General Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of the 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division in Barangay Bus-Bus, Jolo. The meeting aimed to establish coordination and strengthen security and monitoring support for NIA's field operations, particularly in remote and conflict-prone areas, as part of the agency's convergence initiative.
On the same day, the team also paid a courtesy call on Sulu Governor Hon. Abdusakur M. Tan in Barangay Bangkal, Patikul. The visit focused on presenting the proposed CY2026 irrigation projects and outlining implementation plans for CY2025. This engagement was followed by a planning session for upcoming georesistivity surveys in six barangays, highlighting NIA's commitment to data-driven, sustainable irrigation development in the province.
