Disud, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte on February 23, 2024.

Led by Regional Manager June Nathaniel S. Plaza, the forum seeks to refine Region 9's irrigation plan by addressing discrepancies in NIA's data regarding potential irrigable areas and identifying the actual irrigation needs of each municipality and city.

Department of Agriculture ZAMPEN Regional Executive Director (RED) Reynaldo M. Campomanes is also present to give insights pertaining to DA interventions. Other officials from the NIA, including Joel R. Soriano, Division Manager for Admin and Finance, and Engr. Girlie M. Detalla, Acting Manager of Zambo. del Norte Regional Sub-Office (ZDN RSO), were present, along with key personnel from the regional and field office.

During the forum, the LCEs actively shared their concerns and highlighted specific potential areas requiring irrigation. Regional Manager Plaza emphasized the significance of connecting with the Mayors, as they possess firsthand knowledge of the real potential areas in their jurisdiction.

By incorporating the actual potential irrigable areas identified by the LGUs, NIA aims to expand its irrigation efforts and cover more agricultural lands in the province. This proactive initiative will greatly contribute to enhancing agricultural production and ensuring food sufficiency in the country.
