Kapihan sa PIA talk show with NIA-R9

The Philippine Information Agency in partnership with DXPR 603 Radio Station Pagadian and iFM Pagadian conducted a one-hour talk show dubbed as “Kapihan sa PIA” on July 10, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM with the National Irrigation Administration Region 9 as guest agency.

The resource speakers for this program are the Engr. Salome Naragas Layasan, Acting Regional Manager of NIA Region 9, Engr. Benedicto Isagani O. Pulis Jr., Manager of Zamboanga del Sur Irrigation Management Office (ZDS IMO), and Mr. Alonto L. Marcaban, President of the Regional Federation of Irrigators Association (RFIA). Meanwhile, Mr. Gideon M. Corgue, Information Center Manager of PIA, ZDS served as the host of the Kapihan sa PIA talk show.

The program featured a free-flowing conversation wherein NIA was able to impart awareness to the general public their programs and services especially the irrigation development programs that benefit the farmers in Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly in Zamboanga del Sur.

During the show, ARM conveyed that NIA was already able to irrigate a total of 35,318.66 hectares of agricultural land in the whole region which includes rice lands, high value and other diversified crops. She further calls on to all irrigators associations who have not applied for condonation to complete all necessary documentations for them to fully avail of the free irrigation offered by the government thru the Free Irrigation Service Act (FISA) or the Republic Act No. 10969.

She also aired her felicitations to the awarded Most Outstanding IAs for CY 2021 – the Maunlad na Sakahan IA for winning as Most Outsatnding IA under NIS Category, and the Kausawagan San Vicente Farmers Irrigators Association Inc. (KASAVIFIA, Inc) for bagging 2nd place Most Outstanding CARP-IC IA.

ARM Layasan thanked the PIA and partner radio stations for the opportunity given to NIA as guest speakers of their talk show. She also thanked the RFIA, the ZDS IMO, and all the stakeholders especially the local government units for their support to the agency to successfully fulfill its mission and mandates.
